Informa: U.S. corn planting area will be 91.846 million acres in 2014

according to news from Chicago on December 18, private analysis agency Informa Economics lowered its 2014 soybean acreage forecast for the United States to 81.929 million acres, still a record high, but lower than the previous estimate of 83.814 million acres.

Informa raised its 2014 U.S. corn acreage estimate to 91.846 million acres, up from 91.546 million acres.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. farmers planted 95.3 million acres of corn and 76.5 million acres of soybeans in 2013.

Informa also expects the total area under wheat cultivation in the United States to be 57.855 million acres in 2014, down from the previous estimate of 58.1 million acres.

The agency expects 42.866 million acres of winter wheat to be planted in the United States, up from a previous estimate of 43.106 million acres. (Source: Agricultural Futures Network
