2013 Annual Meeting and Academic Seminar of the Association Held Successfully

on December 28, 2013, the 2013 annual meeting of China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association and the academic seminar on agricultural globalization development in economic transition period were held in Beijing. The meeting was jointly sponsored by the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association and the editorial department of "World Agriculture. More than 120 guests from all over the country attended the one-day conference, including special guests, members of the association, and experts, scholars, graduate students, and media professionals from all walks of life who are interested in the conference.

Pan Shengzhou, deputy director of the Central Policy Research Office, made an important report on the interpretation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee, expounding the reform spirit conveyed by this important meeting in a simple and profound way. Ni Hongxing, director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, made a theme report on China's food security strategy from the perspective of globalization, and proposed to adhere to the national food security strategy based on the country, ensuring production capacity, moderate imports, and technological support.

The afternoon forum was divided into three sessions, namely, China's agricultural product supply and trade situation, world agricultural product production and trade prospects, and world food security governance. Six members, Jiang Changyun, Han Yijun, Li Guoxiang, Wang Zhigang, Lu Guoxue and Hu Glacier, made wonderful comments at the meeting. Luo Biliang, Zhou Yingheng, Zhang Yuejie, Li Xiande, Chen Jinsong and Li Cuixia also had vivid question-and-answer interactions on food security, the supply and demand situation of world agricultural products and other topics.

After the academic seminar, a working meeting of the research society was held. Vice President Xu Hui presided over the meeting, Secretary General Tan Xuewen made a report on the work in 2013 and the work assumption in 2013, and Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Zhu Lizhi made a report on the Board of Supervisors. All the participants had a rich discussion on the next work ideas of the research association, and proposed that the membership base should be expanded, horizontal cooperation should be strengthened, and key areas should be screened and concentrated, so as to develop the academic characteristics of the research association. During the discussion, President Du Zhixiong responded to various questions and suggestions, explained the work ideas for 2014, and instructed the secretariat to sort out comprehensive opinions as soon as possible and submit them to the president's office for discussion and approval.
