Brazilian Basmati Rice Exports Expected to Set New Record

according to industry sources, Brazil's Basmati rice exports in 2013/14 (April to March of the following year) are expected to hit a record high of about 4 million tons, an increase of 12.5 percent over the previous year's export volume of 3.5 million tons.

Between April and December 2013, India's Basmati rice exports increased to 2.8 million tons, up 15% from 2.45 million tons in the same period last year.

According to the CEO of the Indian Rice Exporters Association, Basmati rice exports in 2013/14 are expected to hit a record high due to strong demand in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran.
