the results of a study conducted by the Argentine Rice Growers Association and the Argentine Grain Exchange show that the area of rice planted in Argentina will increase to 231,806 hectares in 2013/14, an increase of about 1.6 per cent over the previous year. The largest increase was in the area of rice planted in Santa Fe, which increased by about 10 per cent over the previous year to 48000 hectares. The main reason for the increase in rice planting area is the abundant water supply.
