according to Xaverius Sudirman, chairman of the Indonesian Feed Processors Association, Indonesia's corn imports may increase by at least 22% in 2014, breaking the previous record of 3.6 million tons, because El Nino may occur this year and dry weather will damage domestic production.

There may be an El Nino in the middle of this year. El Niño usually causes dry weather in Southeast Asia.

Corn imports are likely to hit an all-time high of more than 3.6 million tonnes this year, the Sudirman said.

Last year's corn imports were 2.95 million tonnes, he added.

Corn is mainly used for feed production. Indonesia expects its corn output to grow 12 percent this year to 20.82 million tons. (Source: Master Boyi
