Informa raises global corn yield forecast

according to a report released by the Informa Economic Corporation, a US analysis agency, the global corn production in 2014/15 (July to June of the following year) is expected to be 0.9743 billion tons, higher than the earlier forecast of 0.971 billion tons. However, the latest production forecast is still lower than the previous year's actual production of 0.9844 billion tons.

Informa expects Brazil to produce 72 million tons of corn in 2014/15, up from an earlier forecast of 69.3 million tons and 76.5 million tons the previous year. Ukraine's corn production is expected to be 27 million tons, up from an earlier forecast of 26 million tons and 30.9 million tons the previous year.

Informa expects U.S. corn production to be 0.3488 billion tons this year, down from an earlier forecast of 0.3493 billion tons and 0.3537 billion tons last year.

China's corn production forecast for 2014/15 remains unchanged at 0.22 billion tons, compared with 0.2177 billion tons in the previous year. The forecast for corn production in the 28 EU countries remained unchanged at 66.4 million tons, compared with 64.6 million tons in the previous year. Argentina's corn production forecast remained unchanged at 26.2 million tons, compared with 26 million tons in the previous year.
