2025 "the belt and road initiative" Agricultural Cooperation Seminar Successfully Held in Shihezi University

from July 16 to 18, sponsored by the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Shihezi University, the School of Economics and Management of Shihezi University, the Xinjiang (Corps) Rural Revitalization Research Center, and the Cotton Economic Research Center of Shihezi University The "2025" One Belt One Road "Agricultural Cooperation Seminar" hosted by the Center was held in Shihezi City, Xinjiang, the Pearl of the Gobi.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Fei, Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management of Shihezi University. Professor Yang Xingquan, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shihezi University, and Professor Zhang Yongqiang, Vice President of China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association and President of Heilongjiang Agricultural Engineering Vocational and Technical College, delivered welcome speeches.
This seminar closely follows the practical and theoretical issues at the forefront of "the belt and road initiative" agricultural cooperation. In the specially invited report session of the conference, five well-known experts shared their cutting-edge insights: Researcher Geng Dali, Director of the Office of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, gave a report on "The Current Situation and Thinking of Agricultural Cooperation in the Belt and Road.
Professor Zhou Yingheng, a national social science leader and a distinguished expert from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics/Corps, focused on "the practice and experience of rural revitalization in Japan".
Zhang Yu, a researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, discussed "the new strategy of national grain and oil security and the development of peanut industry in Xinjiang".
Professor Jia Fu, School of Business and Society, University of York, UK, shared "Global Trends in Agri-food System Transformation and 'Belt and Road' Cooperation Opportunities".
Professor Chang Wei of the School of Economics and Management of Shihezi University put forward "the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the in-depth agricultural cooperation between China and Central Asia".
The keynote reports of the conference were presided over by the Secretary-General of the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, the researcher Hu Glacier of the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management of Shihezi University.
The conference set up four thematic sub-venues: "Agricultural Product Market and Trade", "Sustainable Agricultural Development", "Frontier of Agricultural Economic Development" and "Silk Road New Cultivation · Rural Revitalization Graduate Forum. Thirty-five scholars from all over the country shared the latest research results and conducted in-depth special report exchanges at the branch venue. Through the collision of ideas, the participating experts and scholars have effectively promoted the improvement of the scientific research level in the field of agricultural economy abroad, actively promoted the exchange and cooperation of agricultural economic research at home and abroad, and contributed wisdom and strength to the "Belt and Road" agricultural cooperation.
The atmosphere of the periodical dialogue was warm. The chief editors and responsible editors of journals such as "China's Rural Economy", "China's Rural Observation", "Social Science Research", "World Agriculture", "Journal of Shanxi Agricultural University (Social Science Edition)", "Journal of Anhui Agricultural University (Social Science Edition)" and "Xinjiang Agricultural Reclamation Economy", etc, in-depth exchanges with young scholars have effectively improved their academic writing and contribution capabilities.
More than 90 experts, scholars and graduate students in the field of agricultural economics from more than 40 universities and scientific research institutions across the country participated in this event. In order to ensure the success of the meeting, the School of Economics and Management of Shihezi University set up a special leading group for the preparation of the meeting, which provided full guarantee in terms of manpower and material resources.
