IGC: Global corn production and ending stocks are expected to decline in 2015/16.
Foreign media news on March 26: According to the monthly report released by the London-based International Grains Council (IGC) on Thursday, the 2015/16 global corn on the Cob production will fall and inventories will fall.
IGC predicts that global corn production will drop to 0.941 billion tons in 2015/16, down from 0.99 billion tons in the previous year, mainly because the yield per unit area has dropped from the previous year's high.
IGC expects global corn consumption to decrease to 0.961 billion tonnes in 2015/16, down from 0.974 billion tonnes in 2014/15, mainly due to an expected decline in animal feed demand. Corn feed demand has increased in countries and regions where corn was harvested in 2014/15, but corn feed usage in these regions is expected to decline in 2015/16.
Global corn ending stocks in 2015/16 will also be reduced to 0.171 billion tons, down from 0.191 billion tons in 2014/15. IGC said that in major corn exporting countries, corn stocks are expected to be nearly 25% lower than in 2014/15.
