World Food and Agriculture — Statistical Yearbook 2025

About the Yearbook

The World Food and Agriculture — Statistical Yearbook 2025 is FAO’s flagship statistical publication, synthesizing the major factors at play in the global food and agricultural landscape. It is a primary reference for policymakers, researchers and analysts.

Four thematic chapters

The publication is structured into: (1) the economic importance of agricultural activities; (2) inputs, outputs and factors of production; (3) implications for food security and nutrition; and (4) agriculture’s impacts on the environment. The digital edition offers interactive visualisations, complemented by a concise Statistical Pocketbook.

New for 2025

This edition introduces the prevalence of minimum dietary diversity as a new indicator to monitor progress toward SDG 2.2 (ending all forms of malnutrition). It also marks the centennial of the first World Programme for the Census of Agriculture guidelines and features improved data on forest-product trade, including processed wood and paper products.

Underlying data

The Yearbook draws on FAOSTAT, the world’s largest food-and-agriculture database, which provides free access to more than 20,000 indicators across over 245 countries and territories.
