EU real income per agricultural worker falls by 4.3 per cent in 2015

According to Eurostat's first estimate, real agricultural income in the EU fell by 6.0 per cent in 2015 compared with 2014, agricultural labor input fell by 1.8 per cent, and real per capita agricultural income fell by 4.3 per cent. Compared with the previous year, real per capita agricultural income is expected to increase in 2015 in 13 EU member states, with the five largest increases being Croatia (21.5 per cent), Latvia (14.3 per cent), Greece (12.1 per cent), France (8.8 per cent) and Italy (8.7 per cent), the five largest declines were in Germany (-37.6 per cent), Poland (-23.8 per cent), Luxembourg (-20.0 per cent), Denmark (-19.7 per cent) and the United Kingdom (-19.3 per cent).
Compared with 2014, the EU's agricultural output value is expected to decline by 2.5 in nominal terms in 2015, mainly due to a decline in animal husbandry output value and crop output value of 5.9 and 0.3 respectively, of which milk and live pigs fell by 14.9 and 8.9 respectively, sugar beet, edible corn, fodder plants, oil and oily fruits and barley fell by 26.0, 24.5, 7.6, 5.3 and 1.8 respectively. Input costs decreased by 2.4 percent, mainly due to declines of 10.1 percent in energy and 3.7 percent in animal feed.
