the monthly supply and demand data released by the French analysis agency Strategic Grain Company in September showed that the EU corn production forecast for 2015/16 was lowered to the lowest level in eight years.

Strategic cereals this month cut its 2015/16 EU corn production forecast by 2.3 million tons to 57.4 million tons, the lowest level in eight years, as hot and dry weather affects the yield potential of corn crops.

The very hot and dry weather in August further threatened the corn yield potential in central and southeastern Europe, especially Poland, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia, according to Strategic Grain.

The latest maize yield data is 24% lower than the previous year, and the maize yield is expected to be 6.1 tons/ha. In contrast, the European Commission expects EU maize production to be 58.75 million tons per hectare in 2015/16, with a yield of 6.3 tons per hectare. (Source: Sina Finance)
