Ministry of Agriculture: China's aquatic products account for more than 60% of the world's total

the reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture: my country's modern fishery construction has achieved remarkable results. At present, my country's total aquatic product farming accounts for more than 60% of the world's total. Aquatic products have ranked first in domestic bulk agricultural exports for 13 consecutive years, and aquatic product exports have accounted for my country's agricultural exports. The proportion of total reached 30%. In 2012, the export volume of aquatic products was 3.8012 million tons, with an export value of 18.983 billion billion US dollars, an increase of 6.69 per cent over the same period last year. The foreign trade surplus of aquatic products was 10.985 billion US dollars, breaking through the 10 billion mark for the first time.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture said that in 2012, the total output of aquatic products nationwide was 59.0768 million tons, an increase of 5.43 percent over the previous year; of which, the output of aquatic products was 42.8836 million tons, an increase of 6.59 percent over the same period last year. The national aquaculture area was 8.0884 million hectares, an increase of 3.23 percent over the previous year. The output of pelagic fishery was 1.2234 million tons, up 6.59 percent year on year.
After breaking through the 10,000 yuan mark in 2011, the per capita net income of fishermen continued to maintain rapid growth in 2012, reaching 11256 yuan, an increase of 12.43 percent over the same period last year. The total output value of the fishery economy of the whole society was 1732.188 billion billion yuan, and the added value was 791.522 billion billion yuan, an increase of 15.44 per cent and 15.02 per cent respectively over the same period last year. Among them, the output value of fishery accounts for 9.73 per cent of the total output value of agriculture, and the added value of fishery accounts for 10.06 per cent of the added value of agriculture.
