Cooperative Economy and Collective Economy: Form Transformation and Development Direction

kong Xiangzhi

cooperative economy and cooperatives are the two most confusing concepts at present. Since Marx and Engels founded the theory of scientific socialism, the cooperative economy has also appeared a distinction between utopian socialism and scientific socialism. The former has evolved into a more realistic Roxdale cooperative model in the practice of capitalist countries. The latter is applied to the agricultural transformation of socialist countries. After the founding of New China, the cooperative economy completed the transformation from Rochdale-style to scientific socialism-style, that is, collective economy; after the reform in the early 1980 s, one path was Rochdale-style professional cooperatives, and the other path was property rights. After the reform of the system, the (stock) economic cooperative that gradually absorbed the Rochdale principle. The two paths gradually merge and become the direction of the common development of Chinese farmers in the new development stage.
