The 2021 Annual Meeting and Academic Seminar of China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association was successfully held in Nanjing Agricultural University

from October 22 to 24, the 2021 annual meeting of the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association was successfully held in Nanjing Agricultural University. Nearly 200 participants and observers from more than 100 scientific research institutes across the country attended the meeting. During the annual meeting, the president's office meeting and the member's congress were held, and the "2021 Research Conference Work Report" and "2021 Board of Supervisors Work Report" were reviewed and passed, which clarified the work focus and development direction of 2022. At the member congress, the co-election of the eighth board of directors was conducted, and 73 candidates for directors became members of the eighth board of directors. After the co-election, the number of members of the eighth Council increased to 250.

2021 is the centenary of the Communist Party of China. During the annual meeting, it coincided with the 100th anniversary of agricultural economic education in Nanjing Agricultural University. The China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association and the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing Agricultural University jointly held an academic seminar on "The New Pattern of Agricultural Development under a Century of Global Changes. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Zhu Jing, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing Agricultural University. Liu Yingjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Agricultural University, Yuan Rong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Agricultural Publishing House, and Yuan Peng, President of China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, delivered speeches.

The keynote report session was presided over by Si Wei, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of China Agricultural University. Focusing on the theme of the academic seminar, experts and scholars with more authoritative academic or policy influence in related fields were invited to give keynote reports. Zhang Lubiao, director of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced the current situation and situation of my country's agricultural opening to the outside world, and the main direction of building a new pattern. Professor Kong Xiangzhi from the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Renmin University of China took four cities (districts) including Zhucheng in Shandong and Pidu in Sichuan as examples to put forward ideas and policies for promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas. Professor Qian Wenrong, Dean of the China Rural Development Research Institute of Zhejiang University, proposed a path to promote urban-rural integration and rural common prosperity from the perspective of the two-way flow of urban and rural population. Researcher Li Xiande of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences analyzed the current trends, key issues and policy implications of global food security governance. Professor Xu Zhigang from the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing Agricultural University analyzed the experience, bottlenecks and paths of high-quality development of China's seed industry under open conditions from the perspective of intellectual property rights and innovation models.

The academic seminar has set up eight parallel sub-venues and special sessions for periodical interviews and exchanges, allowing members to exchange research results, collide with sparks of ideas, and gain writing experience. The parallel sub-venue carried out research results analysis and expert comments, exchanges and discussions around different topics. More than 40 contributors from the members shared the latest research results, and more than 30 experts and scholars put forward comments. The topics set up in the parallel sub-venue include agricultural product trade and international cooperation in agriculture, new practices in agricultural and rural modernization, global agricultural industry under uncertainty, agricultural and rural modernization and sustainable development, rural revitalization and agricultural product consumption, and foreign agricultural economic research New progress, international fishery observation, planting and breeding cycle, and modern mountain high-efficiency and characteristic agricultural development. Parallel sub-venues are organized in various forms, including special sessions on international fisheries, agricultural and rural modernization in Japan, and thematic discussions in the form of round tables. The periodical interview and exchange session was presided over by Professor Lin Guanghua, deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing Agricultural University. Shen Yuechun, editor-in-chief of Jianghuai Forum, Wu Xiaomei, director of the economic and management group, Pan Jin, director of the editorial department of China Rural Economy and China Rural Observation, Zhang Li, director of the editorial department of World Agriculture, 4. Jia Bin, executive editor-in-chief, Peng Chao, jiang Wei, editor-in-charge of the Journal of Nanjing Agricultural University (Social Science Edition), gave a detailed introduction on the journal's orientation, manuscript selection orientation, manuscript review process, writing standards, and submission matters around "the academic responsibility of the three rural social sciences in the new era", and answered the questions of thesis writing and submission that member representatives are concerned about. This link also invites some outstanding author representatives of the members to share their experience in writing and submitting papers.

The China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association was established in 1978. It is a national first-level society registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is one of the four national societies under the supervision of the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
