the World Food Supply and Demand Bulletin released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on Thursday stated that the global wheat production in 2014/15 is expected to be 0.702 billion tons, which is 2 million tons lower than the March forecast and 2% lower than the previous year's record production.%.

The report said lower wheat acreage in Canada could lead to a significant 22 per cent lower yield than in 2013/14.

In contrast, although the US winter wheat crop is adversely affected by the persistent dry weather, US wheat production is still expected to increase by 3.5 per cent from 2013/14.

In the EU, the wheat crop is in good condition and production is expected to increase in 2014/15.

In Australia, due to dry weather, wheat production may be lower than the high level in 2013/14.

China's wheat production in 2014/15 is expected to be slightly higher than last year's high yield, mainly due to the increase in planting area.

India officially forecasts record wheat production in 2014/15.

In the main wheat producing countries of the CIS, wheat yields are expected to be lower than the relatively high levels in 2013, which may lead to lower wheat production in Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. (Source: Master Boyi)
