2014 U.S. Farm Bill Symposium Held at Renmin University
on the afternoon of May 7, 2014, the "2014 American Agricultural Bill Academic Seminar" jointly organized by the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Renmin University of China, the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, and the Beijing Agricultural Economics Association was held at Renmin University. Professor Tang Zhong, Dean of the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Renmin University of China, Vice President of China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, and President of Beijing Agricultural Economics Association, researcher Du Zhixiong, deputy director of the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, chairman of the China Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Association, and vice president of the Beijing Agricultural Economics Association, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the School of Agriculture and Rural Development, Renmin University of China, China Foreign Agricultural Economics Professor Kong Xiangzhi, vice president of the Research Association and executive vice president of the Beijing Agricultural Economics Association, as well as from the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Renmin University of China, China Agricultural University, COFCO, China Food Economics Association, China Agricultural Press, More than 30 experts and scholars from Dalian Commodity Exchange attended the meeting.
the seminar was chaired by professor tang zhong. Mr. Duan Zhihuang (Francis Tuan), distinguished professor of Renmin University of China and former senior economist of the Economic Research Bureau of the United States Department of Agriculture, delivered a keynote report entitled "the 2014 US Farm Bill and its impact. In his report, Professor Duan Zhihuang reviewed the history and stage characteristics of the U.S. Farm Bill, described the formulation, review and approval mechanism of the U.S. Farm Bill, and focused on the commodity plan in the 2014 U.S. Farm Bill, detailing the changes in U.S. agricultural policy and the operating mechanism of the new policy, and preliminarily analyzed the impact of U.S. agricultural policy adjustments on the U.S. and world agricultural product markets.
After the report, the participants held a special discussion on the theme of "the impact and enlightenment of the adjustment of agricultural policy in the United States. During the discussion, Professor Duan further answered and explained the questions raised by the delegates about the main motivations for the adjustment of U.S. agricultural policy, the influence of the U.S. agricultural lobby on the formulation of the Farm Bill, the specific operational details of the commodity plan in the 2014 U.S. Farm Bill, the collection of production and market information in the implementation of U.S. agricultural policy, and the relationship between the new U.S. agricultural insurance policy and WTO trade rules; participants also discussed and exchanged academic discussions on the enlightenment of the 2014 U.S. Farm Bill on my country's agricultural policy adjustment, the direction of U.S. agricultural policy adjustment and the characteristics of the new policy, and the possible impact of U.S. agricultural policy adjustment on my country's international trade in agricultural products.
