Review of Maritime Transport 2025

This report is the annual authoritative report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on global maritime and port logistics. The 2025 edition shows that the growth rate of global seaborne trade volume will be almost stagnant (only 0.5 per cent) in 2025, with a record growth of nearly 6 per cent in 2024 due to the detour of the Red Sea; greenhouse gas emissions from shipping will rise by 5 per cent in 2024, and only 8 per cent of the global fleet's tonnage can use alternative fuels. In 2024, the Shanghai Container Freight Index averaged 2496 points, up 149 percent year-on-year. The report is the basic material for the study of global food, oil and fertilizer shipping costs, route changes and freight trends.
