Global Hunger Index 2025

This report is jointly issued by Conn International (Concern Worldwide), German World Hunger Relief Organization (Welthungerhilfe) and Ruhr University Institute of International Peace and the Law of Armed Conflict. It is the 20th issue in 2025. The report shows that the global hunger index score in 2025 is 18.3, still at the "medium" level, only slightly lower than the 19.0 in 2016, and the progress of poverty reduction and anti-hunger has basically stagnated since 2016. The level of hunger in 42 countries is "severe" or "alert", of which 7 countries are "alert" in Burundi, Congo (DRC), Haiti, Madagascar, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen ". The report estimates that at least 56 countries will not be able to achieve low hunger levels by 2030 at the current rate, and global low hunger may not be achieved until 2137 years later. Armed conflicts have triggered 20 food crises in the past year, affecting nearly 0.14 billion people, and falling humanitarian aid budgets and rising military spending have further weakened the global response capacity.
