Vision for Agriculture and Food (European Commission, 2025)
What was presented
In February 2025 the European Commission presented its Vision for Agriculture and Food — a strategic roadmap for the future of farming and the agri-food sector in Europe, built on the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture.
Four priority areas
The Vision centres on an attractive sector (fair incomes, generational renewal, public support), a competitive and resilient sector (food security and sovereignty, diversified trade, stronger risk management), a future-proof sector (climate objectives, biodiversity, digitalisation), and fair living and working conditions in vibrant rural areas.
Cross-cutting drivers
Simplification of EU rules, research, innovation and digitalisation run through all actions. The Vision also frames the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the Bioeconomy Strategy, a Generational Renewal Strategy and an EU livestock workstream.
Outlook
The Vision is designed to remain workable today and adaptable toward 2040, guiding the Commission’s legislative and investment agenda for the agri-food sector.
