China has become an increasingly important export market for Vietnam's agricultural products.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, from January to June this year, Vietnam exported about 14.42 billion US dollars in agricultural, forestry and aquatic products, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8 percent. Among them, exports to the United States, Japan and the European Union fell sharply, while exports to China continued to grow. China has become an increasingly important export market for Vietnam's agricultural products. In the first half of the year, rice exports to China accounted for 36% of Vietnam's total rice exports; rubber exports to China accounted for 40%; cassava accounted for 85%; wood products accounted for 15%. China has become one of Vietnam's three largest export markets for wood products.
Gao Dafa, Minister of agriculture and rural development of Vietnam, said that China's market is very large, and many countries hope to promote trade with China. As a neighboring country, Vietnam and China are geographically close and have the same customs. Therefore, Vietnam should continue to promote exports to China, including border trade and regular trade.
According to the report, in addition to expanding exports to China, Vietnam should also take measures to diversify its export market and reduce its dependence on the single market. In the second half of the year, Vietnam will take the following measures to promote the export of agricultural products: first, to expand the output of best-selling agricultural products; second, to negotiate with the export market to eliminate technical barriers to trade and make full use of the convenience of the free trade zone agreement; third, to further improve the business environment, absorb foreign investment and enhance the processing ability of agricultural products.
