EU corn production data for 15/16 lowered to 60.1 million tons

according to the latest report released by the International Grain Council (IGC), EU corn production in 2015/16 (October to September) is expected to be 60.1 million tons, lower than the earlier forecast of 66.9 million tons and 75.6 million tons last year.

The opening inventory data of corn in 2015/16 was raised from 7 million tons to 7.2 million tons. EU corn imports in 2015/16 are expected to be 14.5 million tons, higher than the earlier forecast of 12.7 million tons and 10 million tons in the previous year. The total EU corn supply in 2015/16 is expected to be 81.7 million tons, lower than the earlier forecast of 86.6 million tons and 81.7 million tons in the previous year.

Domestic corn consumption in the EU in 2015/16 is expected to be 74.1 million tons, lower than the earlier forecast of 77.1 million tons and 81.1 million tons in the previous year. Exports are expected to be 2 million tonnes, down from an earlier forecast of 3 million tonnes.

EU corn ending stocks in 2015/16 are expected to be 5.6 million tons, compared with the earlier forecast of 6.5 million tons and 7.1 million tons in the previous year.
