WFP Annual Review 2025
This annual review of the World Food Programme (WFP) provides an overview of the global food insecurity situation in 2025 and the agency's response. According to the report, about 0.318 billion people worldwide will face crisis-level or worse acute hunger in 2025. Conflict, extreme weather and economic uncertainty will continue to drive up demand, while humanitarian funding will drop significantly. The World Food Programme will raise US $6.5 billion billion in 2025, covering only 41% of operational needs, and still provide life-saving assistance to 0.121 billion people, giving priority to the most hungry. Due to funding constraints, it was forced to reduce rations, shorten the duration of assistance and tighten targets, with only 47 per cent of planned rations and cash transfers implemented. The report highlights the role of early warning and action, digital innovation and partnerships in reducing costs and improving targeting.
