World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates, September 2026
This report is prepared by the United States Department of Agriculture's World Agricultural Outlook Agency and various commodity estimation committees. It is a monthly global agricultural supply and demand benchmark report, covering the production, consumption, trade and stocks of wheat, rice, coarse grains, oilseeds, and cotton in the United States and the world. It also involves sugar, meat, poultry and milk. The September 2026 period will reduce the 2026/27 U.S. corn yield to 178.5 bushels/acre, production to 15.8 billion bushels, and ending inventory to 1.567 billion bushels by 86 million bushels. U.S. soybean production was revised up to a record 4.535 billion bushels over the same period, with yields of 52.8 bushels per acre and export prospects revised up to 1.69 billion bushels. Globally, the world's final corn inventory was lowered to 0.2721 billion tons in 2026/27, while the world's final wheat inventory was raised to 0.2763 billion tons due to increased production in Australia and Canada. The report is the most authoritative monthly reference for global traders, importing countries and policy departments to judge food prices and supply and demand.
