Livestock and Poultry: World Markets and Trade, April 2026
This report is published semi-annually by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Overseas Farm Service to analyze global production, consumption and trade of beef, pork, poultry, live cattle and hogs. In April 2026, global beef production is expected to be about 61.6 million tons in 2026, down 1% year-on-year, the lowest in three years. Global pork production reached a record of 0.1202 billion tons, of which China accounted for nearly half with about 59.5 million tons. Global chicken production reached 0.1107 billion tons and exports reached record highs of nearly 14.8 million tons. The report specifically pointed out that China's implementation of tariff quotas will restructure the flow of global meat trade, especially to curb imports from Brazil and Australia. The report is an important semi-annual report to study changes in China's meat import demand and long-term trends in global protein trade.
